Political History Series Coming This Weekend!

So, it was requested (after a conversation) that I do a series of blog posts on the political history of homosexuality and the gay rights movement. In reality, I’m not exactly sure how it’s going to play out, I don’t write with an outline or an ending in mind. [I know, my secondary school English teacher would not be a fan]. My PLAN is to start in Ancient Rome and Ancient Greece and follow the evolution of rights through the current era. I’m not even sure how many posts there will be…there will be as many as required. I will ATTEMPT to keep it opinion-less… considering the nature of the topic, there will, inevitably, be some commentary…but I’ll try to keep it as minimal as humanely possible (human being the key word).

I won’t be posting sources at the end of every post, BUT if you want to know where the info came from (that’s not just general or in my head), ask. I’ll be keeping a running list, so ask and I shall deliver!

I will state this, right now: once I hit the modern era and do a politics of AIDS, a HUGE amount of my research will come from Randy Shilts’ And The Band Played On (which, if you’ve not read, go do! And if you’re lazy and don’t want to read, there’s a movie.)

The first post SHOULD be posted tonight/o dark thirty Saturday. I’ll post every day (in theory) until I get them all out. I know this is a vast divergence from my normal posts. BUT, I think it’s important history to understand. IF this is something people enjoy learning about, I MIGHT do another series. Now, time to write!

The Real England is a concise, direct, and not-so-gentle window into the depths of the leftovers of the world’s once greatest empire. It is told from the perspective of one lone (or not so lone) long term visitor. It informs one of the dregs of the country and helps to explain quaint British oddities such as the crack addicted chav.
